Departing twice daily, this fascinating half day trip is the best of both worlds. The first part of your half day tour is dedicated to charming Malahide Castle, its’ 800 year history and most famous residents, The Talbot family. The second part explores the scenic Dublin coastline, with a coastal drive from Malahide Village to Howth Village where we stop for a quick bite to eat before heading south along beautiful Dublin Bay, past the wilds of Bull Island and the Edwardian borough of Clontarf as we head back to Dublin City centre.
With Admission and a guided Malahide Castle tour included, you can discover the Castle’s fascinating history. Learn about the famous Talbot family, who’s 800 year residence only ended in 1975. A stately and noble family, the Talbot’s were instrumental in many aspects of Irish life and their history is a timeline of the most important events in Irish and British relations for hundreds of years.
The Malahide Castle tour includes access to the interpretation and exhibition centres, entry to the superb Victorian Walled & Botanical Gardens and the 250 acre demesne of lush green parkland surrounding the castle. Stroll the castle grounds with its unique flora and fauna or stop by the onsite Avoca Café for a coffee or quick bite to eat. The castle grounds house a well-equipped playground and currently hosts Ireland’s international cricket stadium.
Guided tours of Malahide Castle are provided in 6 different languages via interactive audio sets, including German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. All tours are conducted by a friendly and informative English speaking guide.
After visiting Malahide Castle the coastal tour continues south along the Dublin Coast to the majestic Howth Peninsula. Stroll through historic Howth village and visit the seals lounging by the South Pier, young or old, any kids on board will love them! No visit to Howth is complete without trying the world famous Fish & Chips. Ask your driver to recommend a good restaurant or take away. The tour continues over Howth Summit for breath-taking views of iconic Dublin Bay with the distant Mountains in the distance. (traffic & time permitting of course).
