ATTRACTION DETAILS

Glasnevin Cemetery was established by legendary Irish statesman Daniel O’Connell in 1832.  Key figures from Irish history and culture have been laid to rest within these grounds such as: Michael Collins, Charles Stewart Parnell, Éamon de Valera, Countess Markievicz, Maud Gonne, Luke Kelly and Brendan Behan to name but a few.  The site spans 124 acres, boasting a vast array of ornate sculptures, Celtic crosses and stunning flowers & trees.

A guided tour is the recommended way to get an insight into all of the above.  Our guides are dedicated and knowledgeable. Their impeccable storytelling ability will ensure that you have a top class experience here even if you have little or no knowledge of Irish history.

Our General History runs every day with additional times in summer (June – September).  There is a re-enactment at 2:30pm daily of a speech made at the Glasnevin Cemetery in August 1915.  This speech which was delivered by Pádraig Pearse is regarded as one of the most significant in Irish history.
