Stop at the Dark Hedges, part of the infamous Kingsroad, where Arya Stark escaped from the Kings Landing and headed towards the Nights Watch. See Dunluce Castle, used as House of Greyjoy, perched on the north Antrim Coast Dunluce Castle perfectly captures the atmosphere and intrigue of the medieval world portrayed in the popular TV series.

The LEGEND OF FINN MAC’COOL

The Giant’s Causeway is steeped in ancient Irish folklore and is named after the Legend of Finn MacCool. The story goes that the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn MacCool) was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner. Finn accepted the challenge and built the causeway across the Channel to Scotland so that the two giants could meet and fight. According to legend, when Finn discovered how much bigger the Scottish giant was, he devised a cunning plan to hides from Benandonner. Finn’s wife, Oonagh, disguises Finn as a baby and tucks him in a cradle. When Benandonner came looking for the Irish giant and saw the size of the ‘baby’, he reckons that its father, Finn, must be a giant among giants. He flees back to Scotland in fright, destroying the causeway behind him so that Finn could not follow. Across the sea in Scotland, there are identical basalt columns at Fingal’s Cave on the isle of Staffa, it’s said this is where the causeway reached Scotland.
