The meeting point is James Fox Cigar & Whiskey Shop at 119 Grafton Street. The shop is in a very central location, just across the road from the front gates of Trinity College. Your friendly whiskey expert Host is here to meet you and check you in for the tour and you have time to browse through the vast stocks of whiskeys while we wait for all guests to arrive.
We have luxury transport nearby, which we board, and we take you to the Liberties neighbourhood of Dublin, which once housed 32 working distilleries, most of which disappeared in the 20th century. But now, distilling is returning to the Liberties with a bang! And this afternoon, we take you to three of these new distilleries.
A brand new distillery set in a 300-year-old building. Along with learning how their whiskeys are made and how they differ from other world brands, you’ll be entertained with some wonderful stories on characters who lived over many years in The Liberties. Tastings include Dubliner Whiskey 4-year-old original, Liberties Oak Devil and Dubliner Honeycomb Liqueur.
Just a short walk around the block will see us at Teeling Whiskey Distillery – the first new distillery in Dublin for over 125 years. We give you a quick glance at the distillery floor before arriving in the bar to try their Small Batch Teeling Whiskey and their Single Pot Still – the first Dublin distilled Single Pot Still to come out of the city in nearly 50 years.
Next to Pearse Lyons Distillery, set in St. James’ Church which dates back to the 12th century. The tour includes a saunter around the graveyard on the grounds of the church and the you’ll hear the fascinating stories of those buried there before we glimpse of their distillery set in the restored church. You’ll then try three Pearse Lyons whiskeys and their delicious Ha’penny Dublin gin.
The Celtic Whiskey Shop for a tasting of two premium Irish whiskeys with one of the store’s whiskey ambassadors. Then you’re free to browse their stocks and maybe buy the whiskeys you liked on tour!
