Brian Boru Heritage Centre | Co. Clare
The Brian Boru exhibition traces the life story of Ireland’s greatest King; whose army defeated the invading Vikings at the Battle of Clontarf in 1014.
While you are there, visit Killaloe, a charming little town made up of narrow streets, flanked by old shops along the steep hill looking down over the 13th-century cathedral.
Brian Boru Heritage Centre is located in the heart of the picturesque town of Killaloe, next to the bridge where the river flow out to Lough Derg. Brian Boru (Bryan Boru) the most powerful and influential High King of Ireland, who drove the Vikings out of Ireland over a millennium ago, was born here.
The Heritage Centre calls to mind the life of Brian and the various buildings and sites associated with him. Among the many links to Brian in the area is the great legacy to the Irish People, the O’Brien Clan.
This Heritage Centre charts the history of Killaloe through an imaginative exhibition, giving details on the theme of Celtic Ireland, tracing the arrival of Christianity and the monastic tradition, together with its nautical impact. The Centre offers a wide range of services, including cruiser hire and information on the local attractions.
